But what do you do after the spas are closed and the kids are tired of floating? You enjoy the beautiful dark skies above, of course!
Come and book a private stargazing tour at the Dead Sea with us and embark on a cosmic adventure. Whether it’s a family vacation, hosting friends from abroad, or a getaway with friends at the Dead Sea, the skies above have something for everyone!
About the Location: Conveniently located southeast of Jerusalem, the Dead Sea is an accessible vacation destination famous for its hot springs, hiking trails, wellness centers, and luxury resorts. It is truly a dream destination for outdoor enthusiasts.
To ensure the best possible viewing conditions, we typically recommend setting up our tours in the Ein Gedi or Masada areas. This allows us to move away from the light pollution of Jerusalem and Amman and enjoy night skies filled with countless stars.
Sky Conditions at the Dead Sea:
- Bortle Scale: 3
While proximity to two major capitals like Jerusalem and Amman would normally cause significant light pollution, the Dead Sea is unique. It sits in a very deep basin with high mountain ranges on both sides that block out a large portion of the surrounding city glow.
These mountains, combined with the vast open expanses of the Negev Desert and the Arava Valley to the south, allow for unobstructed observations of the southern skies. The Dead Sea easily provides the best night sky conditions in the northern half of Israel.
